Art - Music - Physical Education - LLC - Technology - Support Services - Extracurricular Activities - Before and After School Program

Art
Students in grades 1-5 receive Art Education instruction from an art specialist each week during a 45 minute art time. The district art teachers follow the elementary art curriculum established by District 200.

Music
Students in grades 1-5 receive Music Education instruction from a music specialist each week during a 25 minute music time. The district music teachers follow the elementary music curriculum established by District 200.
Physical Education
Students in grades K-5 receive daily physical education during a 20 minute period taught by a certified physical education instructor. Students are asked to have a separate pair of gym shoes for P.E. class. The elementary physical education teachers follow the District 200 curriculum.

Library Learning Center
Students in grades K-5 visit the Library Learning Center weekly through set and flexible scheduling. The Library Learning Center is staffed by a certified Library Learning Center Director, an LLC assistant and a computer lab assistant. There are several optional opportunities for students to participate in reading activities including Great Books, Battle of the Books, Books and Bites, Breakfast Club, and LunchBunch.

Technology
Each classroom has two computers for teacher and student use. Many of the curricular areas utilize this technology. Parents and students are asked to sign an authorization form to participate in the utilization of the internet. District 200 has an internet filtering system. A computer lab consisting of 30 computers is located in the Library Learning Center. Students follow the computer scope and sequence established by the district as well as participate in activities planned by the classroom teacher and/or LLC director.

Support Services
Students may qualify for support services through the child review process. Staff members including a psychologist, speech therapist and social worker are available to work with students who exhibit a specific need. Other services include Gifted Education and support for Math, Reading and English Language Learners.

Extracurricular Activities
Students may participate in a variety of activities, including musical programs such as Band, Orchestra, and Chorus. They also may participate in literary activities such as Books'n'Bites, Breakfast Club, Jr. Great Books, and Lunch Bunch. Student athletes participate in Intramural sports.
Before and After School Program (BASP)
The Before and After School Program (BASP) is available at each elementary school. Times for this program are from 7:00-9:15 and from 3:30- 6:00. This is a fee-based program. A program director is on staff to carry out the program responsibilities. The phone number for the BASP program is 690.2304.
