Dear Students and Families,
The District 200 Library Learning Center Teachers are pleased to announce a district-wide celebration of summer reading. The goal is to encourage children to keep reading throughout the summer. The theme this year is:
This program is for students who will be in 1st through 5th grades next year. To participate, students should first talk to their parents and agree on a daily reading goal. Goals may be different for individual children in a family. Choose a number of pages, chapters or a certain amount of time to read each day. Both independent reading and family read-aloud time may be included.
Use this calendar to record the days when students read. Place an X in the box if the goal is met on that day. All students who participate by reading and returning their calendars to the Library Learning Center with a parent’s or guardian’s signature by August 29, 2008 will receive a certificate and treats. In addition, for every 7 boxes with an X, students will receive one raffle ticket for our drawings during our reading celebration in the fall.
Make family reading a priority this summer. Discover books, comic books, magazines, or newspapers, and discover the magic of reading every day!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Schoon, Hawthorne LLC Director
